My Experience
Everyone comes from somewhere. Nobody is perfect. Most successful people aren't born with skill, they learn, shape and develop their skill both through practical work experience and education.
Commissioned Painting For The Blues Kitchen Manchester
While working at The Blues Kitchen Manchester as a Senior BarBack I was commissioned to touch up some of the paintings on the walls behind the bar. After the managers at Blues had seen my work I was commissioned shortly after to paint a poster design for 'Margarita Mondays' from the cocktail menu and paint it on the wall.
Working With The Royal Exchange Theatre
Since graduating I applied to become a part of a group at The Royal Exchange called 'The Young Company' within the makers department. Within this year long course I created costume, prop and set designs for plays written within the young company
Creating A Spec/Bar Bible While Working At The Blues Kitchen Manchester
While working as a Bartender/BarBack Senior at The Blues Kitchen Manchester I decided to create an illustrated Bar And BarBack Bible where all cocktail specs, tape colours for different batches, how to create garnishes, how to change a keg, and more are explained in an easily digestible series of annotated illustrations.
PRODUCT DESIGN AND CRAFT BA
I have graduated studying at Manchester Metropolitan University doing a bachelors degree in Product Design and Craft. within the course I explore all areas of 3D design and craft, looking at different types of design and a range of crafting techniques. Within my time on the course I hope to continue building my skill and knowledge about craft and design like I have been doing throughout my educational career.
UAL LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN
This course not only has given me useful tools to prepare me for university but has also given me the opportunity to work in any area of art and design I want. Enabling me to be a multidisciplinary designer and being able to produce a final outcome no matter the area within art. On this course I've been awarded a Distinction for my efforts and plan on continuing to create work at the same level after college too.
GCSE DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY - RESISTANT MATERIALS
After years of practice in key stage 3 I chose Design & Technology - Resistant Materials for GCSE and got an A* in my coursework and a B overall. Within the course work I designed and crafted decorative and practical stackable storage boxes by using a range of tools, machines, materials and processes including; CAD/CAM programs for the laser cutters, pillar drills, vacuum formers, saws, hand drills, electric screw drivers, bench clamps, engineer's square, a range of soft and hardwood and a range of thermo-plastics and thermo-setting-plastics, ect.
GCSE MIXED ARTS
After years of past artistic experience within and outside of education I chose Mixed Art as one of my GCSEs and received an A* for coursework and an A overall. Within this course I did a range of sculptural pieces, some made from ceramics others from more unconventional materials. I also did a range of textiles and print work and quite often did drawings in a range of scale, size and colour.
COMMISSIONED PORTRAITURE
I've done several paid portraits and requested paintings/drawings in the past, all have been a success and the costumer has been highly satisfied. I enjoy doing these pieces for other people and continue to do it when a client comes along.
LOGO DESIGN FOR LOCAL BUISNESS
A client hoping to start a new business got in contact with me about designing a logo for her local business. She had already been in contact with a professional logo designer and was disappointed. I digitally drew out her ideas in black and white and showed her a range of colour schemes she could choose from/alter. She decided on a logo and colour combo that worked best for her vision, we worked out a contract and she uses this logo for her business to this day.
MORE ABLE AND TALENTED GROUPS
Before going into graded education (GCSE onward) I was involved in multiple more able and talented groups for creative studies. The groups that I was involved with who had the most impact on me personally included MAT, Criw celf and portfolio, within each of the groups I got to experience working first hand with many local and famous artists who taught me techniques and skills that will stay with me for a lifetime.
